Former Ferrari driver Gerhard Berger, while refusing to critcise Ferrari's strategic error in the final race that cost Alonso the title, said the Red Bull would now dominate the F1 scene and the only way to halt them is politically.

He said, “They won’t be beaten as long as they have Adrian Newey."

“What can Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes do in this situation? I would try to take away Newey as a tool (to Red Bull)," he added.

“So that’s on the aerodynamic side. If I was Red Bull’s competitor I would be doing everything politically to reduce the importance of aerodynamics. Today this is done simply with the whole cost argument about wind tunnels,” he added

Speaking to Auto Motor und Sport, earlier, on Ferrari's final race strategy, he said, “Afterwards, when you’ve got all the information at hand and you have time to think about it, you’re always smarter.”

“It was easy to criticise Ferrari after that race but it’s incredibly difficult to do the right thing in the crucial second,” added Berger.

If Ferrari is criticised, it should be for not giving Alonso the right car with which to pass the less competitive Petrov’s Renault, Berger insisted.

“It shouldn’t happen with Ferrari that Renault has better F-duct technology than you. The F-duct is a thing that everyone knew about well (by the season’s end).”

Berger's statements are utter nonsense!

Newey does NOT have a lock on Physics and Engineering!!!! Berger is not an Engineer and he talks from a Driver's point of view. I laughed out loud when I read what he said. It is just nonsense! Because Red Bull have one winning year, that makes them invincible????? I think not. All of the top teams (Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull, Renault, Mercedes, Etc.) all have excellent Engineering Staffs. This is purely about Engineering and the God-Like worship of one individual. No, politics is not the way to win. BETTER ENGINEERING is the way to win! Next year will be a year in which we will see the scales shift back again. Ferrari and McLaren will fight back to #01 status again. Both teams were close this year and truth be told, both teams were only a few 10th's off Red Bull. Does anyone remember 2004???? Ferrari were the best of the best and had a record year! 2005 was not so kind to them! I see a similar fate for Red Bull in 2011.

Stick to driving, Gerhard, okay?

Anybody with half of a brain who has been following this sport for several seasons knows that, with few exeptions, its a case of team A figuring out some aero/chassis developement that makes them the dominant squad this year, then next year it's team B that does it, then maybe next year it will be team C, and then maybe it's back to team A for the following year, and so on and so on.
