Ex-Ferrari technical director Aldo Costa has joined the Mercedes GP team, as confirmed by MGP today. 

Costa, who left Ferrari in May after the team’s disappointing showing in the early part of the season will reunite with Ross Brawn once again, after the duo’s successful stint with Ferrari. The Italian has been appointed as “engineering director” at MGP and will join the team in December, after his leave with Ferrari ends.

Brawn welcomed both Costa, as well as Geoff Willis who will also be joining the team. About Costa, he had this to say: “Having worked closely with Aldo for many years, I know that he will bring dedication and championship-winning expertise to the team when he joins in December.”

Costa worked for Ferrari under Brawn for a number of years, and was elevated to technical director in 2007. But earlier this year he was given “new responsibilities” within the company and Pat Fry took over from him. In July, it was revealed that Costa had indeed left the Scuderia and rumors linking him to Mercedes had been doing the rounds for a little while now.
