Briatore replacing Domenicali rumour gains

With Flavio Briatore's continued visit to Ferrari, as reported in Die Walt, rumours are running top gear of him replacing Stefano Domenicali as team boss of Ferrari.

On questioned during the Monza weekend, he said, "I am meeting with Bernie (Ecclestone) and then flying back to London. It's fantastic to be back, to see friends and to be in Italy.... Ferrari are on pole and everyone is happy. Just wonderful."

Though Briatore is banned from involvement in F1 until 2013, he seems to be keen to return to the sport earlier, and is said to have been lobbying the FIA to have his ban years reduced.

He, however, played down suggestions on his urge to return to F1.

"I'm feeling very good and I'm happy with the way things are," said Briatore.

"We will see what happens in the future," said Briatore. "Next week I will not be in Singapore; I am also perfectly happy at home," he was quoted as saying to Sky Sport 24.

Stefano Domenicali has had a rough year, until last weekend's win, particular the way the team-orders situation was handled and a few important strategic errors made, that has cost Ferrari dearly.

In light of this and Briatore's frequent visit to Ferrari has fuelled rumours that this would be Doemnicali's last season as team boss of Ferrari F1 team.
