Alonso and Hamilton will benefit from Pirelli

Pirelli's test driver Pedro de la Rosa believes Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton will have an upperhand in handling the Pirelli tyres this season than others.

He expects Alonso and Hamilton to adapt quickly to the changes as they were best of the current lot.

Speaking to Marca, he said, “Changes always benefit the best drivers and, for me, the two best drivers are Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, because they are the quickest to adapt.”

Speaking on the major difference in the current Pirelli tyres and that of earlier Bridgestone tyres, he said, it was the durability aspects, and feels there would be more pit stops, but it would surely spice up races.

Nico Rosberg of Mercedes GP also felt that the Pirelli tyres degraded faster, and it would take some time before teams adapt to this change from Bridgestone which lastest longer.

Considering Alonso has said himself his driving style will have to change, this is pointless. DLR is a failure and a cheat. He shouldn't even be in F1, let alone doing something important.

He and Hamilton are one of the better pilots, who adjust to situation quicker than others.

Pedro knows exactly jack @#$%& about who is going to do what. He's been a test driver all his life (with VERY few exceptions) because he has no clue how to drive fast. He wouldn't be able to tell you when it's going to rain while standing in a downpour.

Well I think that if the New Pirelli Tires have more grip yet less wear they favor those drivers who like their race car to brake later in the turn for grip but will also favor those who are much more smoother on tires. I see Alonso, Button, Webber, Schumacher all having a better situation then say Hamilton or Vettel who just punish the tires to no end. I see Rosberg and Kubica somewhere in ther middle. Time will tell.

@ Tony,

I think certain drivers have a more aggressive style then others and we have seen the good and bad results because of this. The best drivers seem to be the ones that are agressive yet are not overly so and know how to preserve thier tires. It will be even more critical next year to see who is a student of the sport and learn the right method to get the most our of the race car and the tires. It will be a veryt different dynamic to the sport that we have not seen for a while now. KERS could play a negative hand if not closely kepted in check. Hamilton is a much different driver to Button and Vettel is a much different driver to Webber. Alonso seems to be a driver that made far to many errors in the early part of 2010 but showed a great deal of discipline in his driving and demeaner to have consistency in his results. That seems to be a very valuable quality in winning. Time will tell.
