Ferrari today launched their 2011 F1 Challenger "F150" at a function held at Maranello today.

The F150 is the 57th single-seater built by Ferrari to compete in the Formula 1 World Championship.

The Ferrari team has chosen the name as a tribute and celebration of the 150th anniversary of Italian unification.

Speaking at the function, the Ferrari supremo Luca di Montezemolo said, “This year we have to win and we’ll do our best to win. We’ve updated the team, we’ve made some improvements and we’re awaiting challenges against our first opponents.”

While team principal Stefano Domenicali said he expected challenges from competitors as last year, “It will be a very intense season, just like last year. I expect many teams to be able to win. The competition will be even harder and the uncertainty even higher.”

The first observation of the F150 reveals the car to be higher than last year's version.

The exhaust system looks similar to what the team adopted last year.

The side air intakes openings are reduced in size, and the layout of the dynamic one above the driver’s head has been modified.

The car's rear suspension features a new design, while that at the front has been modified, following changes to the front part of the chassis.

It remains to be seen how effective these new changes would have on actual performance of Ferrari, with strong competition expected from Red Bull and McLaren.
