Following their third consecutive points-scoring race at the Nurburgring last weekend, the Sauber team has moved to Monza, Italy to kick off an intensive four-day test. Felipe Massa started work for the two North American races by running 61 laps in chassis C23-05, setting a best time of 1:23.041. Race Engineer, Giampaolo Dall´Ara talked about the work completed today. "The overall purpose of this week´s test is the evaluation of our latest aerodynamic package in preparation to the forthcoming back-to-back races in Montreal and Indianapolis. Our main focus will be on assessing new parts resulting from our wind tunnel work and particularly on different front and rear wings. As the next two races, especially the Canadian Grand Prix, are also hard on brakes we will carry out some tests in this area too."

The day's running was cut short by bad weather. "Unfortunately it started to drizzle after the lunch break. Given that we decided not to do too many runs this afternoon and moved the programme to the next days," said Dall'Ara. "Particularly on Thursday and Friday we will also concentrate on Bridgestone tyre construction work in preparation for the forthcoming European races."

Felipe Massa will continue the test tomorrow. Then teammate Giancarlo Fisichella will step in for the final two days.
