Last week team SAUBER PETRONAS cancelled their planned launch of the C24 in Malaysia out of respect for the tsunami victims in South East Asia. Other headlines including Michael Schumacher's generous donation of USD 10 million to the cause. This week we learned that the SAUBER team will auction off a 1988 SAUBER PETRONAS C16 chassis with all proceeds to be donated to the relief efforts. The C16 was raced by Johnny Herbert, Nicola Larini, Giani Morbidelli and Norberto Fontana. Together they scored 16 championship points to earn the team 7th place in the standings.

The chassis will be auctioned in Switzerland and bidding will begin at 150000 Swiss Francs. We will post specifics on the auction when the information becomes available.

You may not be able to afford to bid on the SAUBER C16, but we at Sauber Speak urge each and every one of you to make a donation to the relief efforts. With the death toll now over 147,000 and the number of homeless in the millions those of us more fortunate cannot afford to ignore the victims of this tragedy.
