The FIA handed down a harsh penalty to the BAR Honda team today for allegedly running underweight in the San Marino Grand Prix. The penalty stripped Jenson Button of his 3rd place finish and Takuma Sato of his 5th place finish. The team will also be banned from the next two races.
Although BAR Honda plans to appeal what they consider an unjust penalty, the ruling is good news for team SAUBER PETRONAS and driver Jacques Villeneuve. He now moves from a 6th place finish to 4th, gaining himself and the team two valuable championship points in the process.
Felipe Massa also gains two spots in the final race results, moving from 12th to 10th. It is still not enough to land him in the points though.
SAUBER heads to this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix with 7 points for the season and jumps from 8th in the constructors' standings to 7th.
