Jacques Villeneuve took over testing duties today and got some much needed seat time in the SAUBER PETRONAS C24 as he logged 114 laps around the Paul Ricard circuit. "It was quite a productive day today and we were able to complete the programme. Although we missed the scheduled long-run for the Michelin tyre evaluation our decision for Monaco is quite clear now," explained Giampaolo Dall'Ara, the team's race engineer. "We also worked on the car set-up and validated front wing and suspension specifications for the next race."

Villeneuve's best time of 1:06.644 put him lowest in the field of nine cars present today but as each team works on their own individual programme, the times are not cause for alarm.

"Tomorrow we will run on a different track layout and focus on a medium downforce as well as Michelin tyre programme in preparation for the Canadian Grand Prix," said Dall'Ara.

Villeneuve and the team will wrap up the test tomorrow before heading to next week's Monaco Grand Prix.
