Sarah Fisher, currently the IndyCar Series' only owner/driver, has recently announced that she has struck a sponsorship deal which will enable her to compete in four events in the 2009 season. The deal is with Dollar General, the same discount store chain that funded her squad for two races towards the end of the 2008 champaign.

For 2009 they will help Sarah Fisher Racing make appearances at Kansas, Indianapolis, Kentucky & Chicagoland. "It has been a pleasure to work with Dollar General, and they have quickly become a great sponsor, as well as a trusted friend to the SFR team," said Fisher. "I enjoyed racing for them last year and am thrilled that they are back for four more races."

While that is a good start, Sarah still hopes that SFR can yet find funding to make other races in '09. In a recent interview for the Washington Times newspaper, Fisher said that she would like to run all of the oval events in '09, & is actively talking to other potential sponsors towards that end. She also stated that she is open to the idea of putting another driver into the car for any of the IndyCar road course weekends. Finally, while she wouldn't put a specific time frame on it, the 28 year-old Fisher said that her ultimate goal is to find another driver to take over full time, allowing her to "retire" and concentrate on team management duties - and raising a family.
