Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Alex Tagliani caught the racing bug while on a trip to Italy at age ten. By the late '80's/early '90's he was a regular fixture - and frequent winner - on the Canadian karting scene. By the mid '90's Alex had moved up to the open-wheel developmental ladder, and was competing in the Toyota Atlantic Series, then the stepping-stone to CART.

After capturing six victories and eight pole starts in the '97-'99 seasons, Tagliani was brought into CART in 2000 at Forsythe Racing, as the replacement for the late Greg Moore, a fellow Canadian who was tragically killed in a racing incident in 1999. He would spend three seasons with Forsythe, showing plenty of potential and notching eight top-five finishes but, somehow, victory always seemed to elude him.

After switching to the Rocketsports squad in 2003, 'Tag' would finally break through to the top step of the podium with a victory at Road America in 2004. He would move on to Team Australia for '05 & '06, and then back to Rocketsports for '07 but, while the top-five finishes kept piling up, a second victory never came.

Intially on the outside looking in when the CCWS/IRL merger happened (he did compete in the CCWS finale at Long Beach), Alex tried his hand at the Canadian Tire NASCAR Series, winning once (at Edmonton) in nine starts. Towards the end of the 2008 IndyCar campaign he was brought in to Conquest Racing to replace Enrique Bernoldi for the last three races. He would also run a partial schedule - 6 of the 17 races - for Conquest in 2009.

All the while, Alex was working on major plans for 2010. He joined in a business partnership with former Kelley Racing co-owner Jim Freudenberg and Montreal area business mogal Andrei Azzi to form FAZZT (the 'T' comes from Tagliani) Race Team, purchasing the shop and equipment of the defunct Roth Racing squad.

Alex and FAZZT would show plenty of potential for a first year squad, notching five top-ten results, with the best being a fourth place finish at Mid-Ohio.

Alex will be back at FAZZT for the 2011 season.
