Switching Sides

Two weeks after quiting his post as the Champ Car World Series' race director, Tony Cotman has been hired into the "rival" Indy Racing League in what essentially is the exact same post. The official tittle of his post will be vice president of competition.
In this post Cotman will oversee issues ranging from competition, venues and technical problems, as well as running the Indy Pro Series. He will also assist league president Brian Barnhardt as needed.
“I’m just going where I think the future of open-wheel racing is going to be,” said Cotman, who quit Champ Car earlier this month after a three year stint with the series. “It should be a little easier in the IRL, because in Champ Car a third of the field was the series owner’s cars.”
The 40 year-old native of New Zealand has previous experince working in the Indy Racing League. He spent a number of years working as team manager for Andretti-Green Racing prior to his time at CCWS.
