Dryer & Reinbold Racing has announced that former GP2 racer and Honda F1 test driver Mike Conway of Great Britian has joined their squad for the 2009 IndyCar season. Based on the updates that have been made to the IndyCar Series website in response to this news, it would appear that the 25 year-old's signing comes at the expense of veteran driver Buddy Rice.
Conway is excited by the opportunity now in front of him, but also mindful of the steep learning curve that he faces. "I'll be visiting a lot of new tracks for the first time, especially oval tracks, but I'm very much looking forward to the challenge."
Mike's first chance to show the team what he can do will come during the preseason testing sessions, but this will not be his first time in an IndyCar: he was involved in a testing session last summer at the Infineon Raceway road course, driving for Panther Racing.
