Scott Dixon became this season's first multiple race winner by taking the checkered flag at Milwaukee ahead of Ryan Briscoe, who had lead for nearly three quarters of the distance. The win vaults the Kiwi to the top of the championship chase, four points better than Briscoe and Franchitti, who are tied for 2nd.

After following in Ryan's wake for nearly fifty laps, Scott used the lapped car of Tomas Scheckter as a "pick" and drove off basically unchallenged for the final twenty-four. "You just got to time it right; Dixon explained afterwards. "You've got to try to look ahead, see where those guys are using their lines, see if he's on the bottom, see if he's on the top, what's going to be the quickest way if you can get around. Luckily for me, my car was fantastic on the high line in (Turns) 1 and 2. I got a great run on the high side and it just lined up perfect. From that point on, the car was hooked up."

Dario Franchitti finished in third, with Graham Rahal comming home in fourth & Danica Patrick in fifth.

Earlier in the day, Firestone Indy Lights rookie Mario Romancini lead every lap to win his first FIL event.
