Former F1 driver Takuma Sato will be a rookie in the IndyCar Series for the 2010 champaign. The 33 year-old Japanese driver had been the subject of rumors placing him with a new squad that was alledgedly being formed by ex-CART & IndyCar driver Gil De Ferran, but instead has landed at KV Racing Technologies.

Rather than start his own operation, De Ferran has opted to become a co-owner of Luczo Dragon Racing.

KVRT co-owner (and former CART/CCWS star driver) Jimmy Vasser is hopeful that Sato will make his mark quickly in IndyCar. "I can't wait to see what I know will be a extremely fast pace by Taku on the road courses and look forward to working with him and getting him up to speed on the ovals.  I have no doubt that Taku will be right on the pace immediately."

Sato competed in F1 for seven seasons, driving for Jordan, BAR and Super Aguri, with a best finish of third at the 2004 USGP.

There is no word yet on whether KVRT will field a second full-time car for 2010. Rumors continue to swirl that they are yet hopeful of bringing Mario Moraes back for a third season. There has also been talk that Paul Tracy will run a few select (read: Indy and the Canadian races) events.
