Will Power won his third consecutive pole starting position on Saturday as the drivers of the IndyCar Series set the grid for the 36th Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, to be held Sunday. The Aussie was joined in the final round of 'knock-out' qualifying by both of his team mates, giving Penske half of the spots in the top three rows.

After stumbling in the Grand Prix of Alabama last Sunday, Power is happy to regain momentum. “We certainly have the car figured out and I’m very happy that the Verizon car is P1 again. We’ve got to get the strategy right this weekend. I know sometimes it’s really hard to read, but we need to keep executing in races.”

Power will be joined on the front row by Andretti Autosport's Ryan Hunter-Reay. Row Two will feature Dreyer & Rheinbold's Justin Wilson and Penske's Helio Castroneves. Ryan Briscoe will share Row Three with AA's Tony Kanaan.

Power currently has the 33 point lead in the 2010 season championship chase over Castroneves. If he can win the pole two weeks from now when the IndyCars take to the Kansas Speedway, he will tie Castroneves (2004) and former driver Billy Boat (1998) for the most consecutive pole starts since the inception of the IRL.
