Okay, all of you would-be race car designers; the Indy Racing League has thrown down the gauntlet. It's time for you to show us what you can do! Just go to www.indycar.com/2012, then scroll down until you see the 'Design Your Own Future IndyCar' tab and select it.

You will be taken to a page where you can download renderings of the Dallara 'safety cell' that will be the base for the 2012 spec IndyCar. Then you can design your very own wings, sidepods and engine cover (remember: it will be a turbo-charged engine) and submit your work (in a ZIP file) to online@brickyard.com for consideration. Once the IRL recieves a handful of submissions, they will add a page to www.indycar.com to display them. The dsigners of those that they judge to be particularly promising will be invited to do a 'write-up' of their work for The Official Blog of the IZOD IndyCar Series.
